Why go?

Two weeks to discover Morocco from south to north at a comfortable pace. This private tour starts with three nights in Marrakech, including a day trip to the Atlantic port of Essaouira, then crosses the High Atlas to the kasbahs, valleys and oases of the south and spends two nights in the Sahara around Merzouga.

The second week takes you through the Middle Atlas to the imperial cities of Fes, Meknes and Rabat, then up to the Rif Mountains and the blue town of Chefchaouen, before finishing on the Mediterranean in Tetouan and Tangier.

It is our most complete itinerary from Marrakech, ideal if you want to see almost every face of Morocco – mountains, desert, ocean and history – in a single trip, ending close to Tangier airport.

Tour Plan

01

Our team welcomes you at Marrakech airport and drives you to your riad in the medina. Free time to settle in and enjoy a first evening on Jemaa el-Fna square.

02

A local guide shows you the treasures of the Red City: the Koutoubia, the Saadian Tombs, the Bahia Palace and the souks of the medina. In the afternoon, visit the Majorelle Garden and the modern Gueliz district at your own pace.

03

Drive west through the argan forests, with a stop at a women’s argan oil cooperative. In Essaouira, walk along the Portuguese ramparts of the Skala, the fishing port and the relaxed medina, and enjoy fresh fish by the sea. Return to Marrakech in the evening.

04

Cross the High Atlas via the Tizi n’Tichka pass and visit the ksar of Ait Ben Haddou. In Ouarzazate, discover the Taourirt kasbah, once the palace of the Glaoui family. Dinner and night in Ouarzazate.

05

Follow the road of a thousand kasbahs through Skoura and the Valley of Roses, then drive up the winding road of the Dades Gorges. Dinner and night in a guesthouse in the Dades Valley.

06

Walk in the Todra Gorge near Tinghir, then head south to the Draa Valley, one of the largest palm groves in Africa. Arrive in Zagora, an old caravan town at the gates of the desert. Dinner and night in Zagora.

07

Cross arid plateaus and quiet villages to Rissani and its traditional market, then continue to Merzouga. Camels take you into the Erg Chebbi dunes at sunset to your desert camp for dinner and a night under the stars.

08

Get up early for the sunrise over the dunes. After breakfast, explore the desert by 4x4 on the old rally tracks, meet a nomad family for tea and listen to Gnawa music in Khamlia. Dinner and night in a hotel in Merzouga.

09

A long scenic day north through the Ziz Valley and the Middle Atlas, with a stop in the cedar forest to see the Barbary macaques and in Ifrane with its alpine-style houses. Arrival in Fes in the evening.

10

Discover the medina of Fes el-Bali with an official guide: medersas, fountains, the Karaouine area, the tanneries and the craftsmen’s quarters. Free afternoon to explore further or shop for ceramics and leather.

11

Visit Meknes, the city of Sultan Moulay Ismail, with its monumental Bab Mansour gate and royal granaries. Continue to Rabat to see the Hassan Tower, the Mausoleum of Mohammed V and the Kasbah of the Udayas. Night in Rabat.
